Planning Futures Supper Club – The Lord Banner KC
In 2024, Lord Banner KC was appointed by the then Conservative Government to lead an independent review “into the causes of legal challenges brought against the NSIP regime and to explore the scope and options for improving existing processes”.
The Banner Review was published in October 2024 and, following a period of consultation, the new Labour Government announced in January 2025 that it would take forward many of the report’s recommendations.
We are delighted therefore to be joined for this edition of the Planning Futures Supper Club by Lord Banner, who will set how he arrived at the views that underpin the review and how he thinks the NSIP regime will evolve following the Government’s endorsement of his report.
Lord Banner KC is a leading planning silk, based at Keating Chambers. First called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2004, he was appointed Queen’s Council in 2019. Since 2024 he has been a working member of the House of Lords. He has acted as counsel in some of the most important planning cases of the last decade and is co-founder and co-presenter of the popular planning podcast, “Have We Got Planning News For You”.
Following the usual Supper Club format, Lord Banner will give a brief after dinner speech, which will be followed by a discussion amongst attendees.
