Planning Futures Supper Club – Natalie Elphicke Ross, Director and Head of Housing Delivery at the Housing and Finance Institute.
Following last year’s general election, the Government embarked on a rapid programme of planning reform. A year later, as the shape of the new planning regime is coming into view, the Government is turning its attention to housing delivery. With an ambitious housing target, and fresh funding commitments set out in the recent spending review, it is now up to public and private stakeholders from across the built environment sector to increase the pace of construction.
We are therefore delighted to be joined for this edition of the Planning Futures Supper Club by Natalie Elphicke Ross, Director and Head of Housing Delivery at the Housing and Finance Institute.
Natalie is a widely respected housing expert who has advised several Governments on their housing policies. She was co-author of the Elphicke-House Report 2015 on the role of local authorities in housing supply and was an expert adviser on the development of the national strategy for estate regeneration.
Natalie led the establishment of the UK wide New Homes Quality Board (2019-2022) and is currently Chair of the Defence Housing Strategy Review.
She was awarded an OBE for her services to housing and was the Member of Parliament for Dover and Deal from 2019 until 2024.
Following the usual Supper Club format, Natalie will give an after dinner speech outlining her view on how the housing delivery rate can be accelerated through government action and cross-sector working. This will be followed by a friendly, informal discussion amongst attendees.
