Built Environment Hustings

Planning Futures was delighted to join colleagues from the built environment professions to host last night’s London 2020 and Beyond Mayoral Hustings.

Candidates and representatives from the five main parties contesting this year’s election debated the major planning issues facing London over the next five years.  The event, which took place at the Royal Institute of British Architects, was attended by 400 built environment professionals, who questioned the candidates on their policies for London’s future growth.

Topics included London’s continuing housing crisis, the prospect of building on the green belt, construction skills and London’s strategic infrastructure needs.  There was also widespread agreement from candidates and representatives on the need for greater fiscal devolution for London.
